After hitting the road, we made a series of quick, 1-night stops as we worked our way toward warmer weather. Unfortunately, there was also a period of uncharacteristically high winds, so we took several days getting south.

Our first night was at a Harvest Host call Pub Dog, where our dogs could run around inside and play with the other dogs in attendance. A good time was had by all. It felt like they deserved a little bit of extra attention and exercise, given how focused we had been on setting up and getting on the road.
Our travels southward even took us into a snowy area at higher elevation around Santa Fe.

Even though the weather was colder than I’d typically like to experience during our travels, one of our dogs was in heaven, digging around and rolling in every snowdrift she could find. We let her enjoy it…ad you can see her tethered up outside in the photo above), because it might be quite a quite a while until she gets into snow again.

During this time the RV wasn’t finished being organized. And the cadence of driving each day, staying only one night was taxing. Add the wind and all the difficulties getting used to a new RV…and you could say that they were some tense days. We both like things to be organized, with known systems in place. But this short travel phase did not embody those ideals. We both were very much looking forward to the next stop, where we would stay at a campground for 6 days and work on key projects.
